Polyurethane Presston

Two new photos from Arne Industries of the original rough master and the cast master. Arne says the eyes, feet and tail need a little sculpting work and everything needs sanding, smoothing and priming.
Regardless, we think it's AWESOME!!!

Presston becomes something...

Thank the Lord for Arne Industries! We found out about this boutique toy maker from the recent Babe Bunyan figure by Scrappers. We were so happy to discover they're right here in the US of A, in Portland, OR no less, one of LP's most favoritist cities ever. This is the initial sculpt of Presston who will be eventually turned into a hard plastic figure.

Candykiller--AS Card #25

Wow. 25 artist cards in a little over four years. Some times I didn't think we'd make it this far. It seems appropriate, and we're very happy to have a design by one of our longest standing collaborators, Candykiller (aka Brian Taylor).
Brian has turned his classic Zombi image into a fantastic card design for us. Here are the details:

•Limited to 500 hand-numbered cards
•Two-color letterpress printed
•Lettra 100% cotton printmaking paper
•Accompanied by red envelopes
•Five cards/envelopes per pack
•Pre-ordered packs come with one card signed by the artist

Happy Holidays!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of our LP fans, friends and family. We hope your 2008 was dandy (other than that nasty recession and all), and that Ought Nine is super-duper dandy-rific.
A few quick updates:

•Julie West's print will soon, sorry about the delay. It turned out great, by the way!
•The latest Candykiller print should be shipping soon to the artist to sign and number.

That's it for 2008, a very busy year for this little business. And we hope to make 2009 even busier. Plus, we plan on expanding the artist designed line beyond the cards and prints, including some "useful" products. More news about that later. For now here's a selection of what's coming up:

•Artist Series Card #22 from DGPH.
•Artist Series Card #23 from Anna Chambers.
•A print and card set from Joe Ledbetter.
•A special card to celebrate the 25th Artist Series Card from one of our most favorite collaborators.

Best,
Mark

Laser Presston

We recently contacted Kurt at 5280 Lasers about possible future collaborations. Laser engraving is becoming quite popular, but beyond that, we think the end result is somewhat akin to letterpress printing. The depth and detail achieved is quite impressive and the variety of material that can be engraved is very broad.
Anyway, we sent in a simple image of our logo Presston, that had previously been used on a card, just to get an idea of what could be done. Quite by surprise Kurt created some samples for us to look at. We will definitely be doing some fun stuff with 5280 in the near future.

Black and white acrylic cut outs.

Laser engraved wood samples.

Not sure what kind of wood this is, but it has been stained a pretty blue-green, and Presston has been inlaid in abalone shell. Fancy!

Presston engraved in veneer. Cool, but very thin and fragile.

Close-up.

New Candykiller Print

This is the other semi-secret project I've been working on. This print was done for Brian Taylor basically as payment for the logo he created for LP. Since he wanted a two-color print, in a larger run, the cost was pretty high so he is letting me sell some of these to recoup the extra cost.

The Details:

•8x10 inch
•Inked letterpress
•Two-color, white and maroon, on French Construction Cement Green 100 lb stock
•Signed/numbered total edition of 200 (most are going to Brian)

SOLD OUT!!

Presston

Brian Taylor of Candykiller has created a logo for us. Presston is the new identity of our Artist Series line of cards and prints. Sometime in the near future we will have a whole new section of our website devoted to this division of Letter Pressed.
Great big thanks to Brian.

Candykiller--AS Card #7

CANDYKILLER
This could be the cutest Artist Series card to date!! AS card #7 is from Brian Taylor, aka Candykiller. Brian is a super-talented artist and graphic designer who hails from Scotland We loved this little bunny character and were happy when Brian agreed to do a card using this image. These cards are in stock and ready to ship. Send a decidedly diffferent Easter card to your friends and family this year!!
Click on the image for a full-sized view, which Brian mocked-up to look like the printed card. And we must say, the card turned out just like this!! We decided to cut back on the edition size, from 750 down to 500, to keep this one limited. So don't dilly-dally, there aren't many left.
SOLD OUT!
