Wheaty Wheat Biz Cards

One of the most fun, yet nerve-wracking, custom jobs LP has ever done was doing the business cards for Wheaty Wheat Studios. We wanted these to turn out perfectly, and the response from owner Richard VanOver told us that we did. Whew!
WW is a small American toy company that is putting out some of the coolest designer vinyl around. They have, or will, put out toys from some of the same artists we've worked with like Joe Ledbetter and Andrew Bell. We're very excited about another collab with artist (and WW art director) Chris Lee for the upcoming toy based on his Mellow figure. A small postcard sized print will be included with the first 200 figures! More on that later for sure.
Chris designed the business cards, which were printed in black and orange on French Muscletone Glacier 140# stock.

Card Update(s)

PEACE & JOY and the Bwana Spoons card should both be done very soon (P&J as early as tomorrow). Since it's easier for me to post info on the blog than for my webmaster to update the site, I will have ordering information on here as soon as the cards are done. Will hopefully have more pix of custom work as well, there's a ton that I need to put up.
Thanks to everyone who has left a comment. Please put your name on your posts, so I know who you are (first names are fine). You don't have to be a member of Blogspot, or sign in, to leave a comment.

Joe Ledbetter has provided Letter Pressed with the fourth Artist Series card: Octobunny!
Los Angeles native and self-taught artist Joe Ledbetter is making his mark in the art world with a unique and unmistakable style. His character driven work consists of cute creatures that manage to make destructive and disturbing adult behavior seem almost innocent. By combining an array of everyday experiences with absurdity and the subversive, Joe consistently makes us laugh at how seriously we sometimes take life. With grace and style his paintings are brought to life using an amazing combination of colors, shadows, and thick black lines. Formerly a graphic artist for the apparel industry Joe now spends his days in his Los Angeles studio as a full-time artist.

MCA/Evil Design--AS Card #3

Item description:

YOU DRIVE ME APE!!
Letter Pressed’s third Artist Series Card by MCA of Evil Design. Is this lovable Ape sending a warm and fuzzy message of love to the intended? Or is he serenading them with a classic punk song from the Dickies? Couldn't it be both?
In either case this cute little guy will make anyone you send it to smile.
These days, MCA has been busy participating in gallery shows in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. However, he’s most excited about his latest undertaking: Teaming up with Toy2R, he’s designed over 30 Qee figures that are due out in 2005 as well as an original figure based on the Evil Ape. Among the many publications that have featured articles about and/or artwork by MCA recently are Vice (NYC), Animal Magazine (NYC), The Weekly Dig (Boston), WAD (France), Lodown (Germany), Grind (Toronto), Pixel Mag (Australia) & Playtimes (Singapore).

We get a lot of custom jobs from friends and web customers. Carrie is both. She was working for AVWE at the time and wanted to jazz up their business cards, and luckily she thought of LP for the job. Printed in yellow on Wine(!) Speckletone 100# French cover stock (our fave paper company).

Custom Calling Cards

When one of our friends, and customers, found out we were creating calling cards for our site, she asked if we could do some designs of hers. But of course! Beside using these herself to give out info, she gives these to friends as gifts.
We like to use our calling cards as gift tags. What would you use them for?

Customizable

Another service we provide is the customization of our own designs. This client wanted to use our multilingual happy birthday cards as birth announcements, but in a different color. We said, "No problem!"

Luxe Paperie

We were honored when the head of a new stationery store asked us to print their business stationery. They said they wanted something that would be luxurious and beautiful. With a client-supplied design, a delicious color combination and that great letterpress impression we think we helped them achieve just that. For now here is a pic of their business cards.

Paper Airplane

One of Letter Pressed's most popular card designs is back. Paper Airplane by Melissa Anderson, formerly of my very own hometown, Fresno, CA. This time we printed the card in lavender foil on rich, chocolate brown French Paper, with accompanying lavender V-fold envelopes. You can purchase packs of 5 or 10 cards here.

Café Grumpy

One of our latest custom orders was for Café Grumpy in Brooklyn, NY. The design and logo are by artist Andrew Bell, whose sister Caroline owns Grumpy. This was a really fun job to work on, and I am excited to see people who want letterpress printing for items like these.

First Post

Well isn't this exciting? I have decided to create a blog mainly to share all the custom print work I do for people and businesses. I do so much custom work that it is hard for my webmaster to keep up. With this blog I will be able to share pictures and details of client work, and also talk about the Artist Series cards I create.
Check back often and regularly for updates!
